3 Position Rifle

This is considered to be the blue riband event of smallbore rifle shooting, as well as shooting prone we shoot in the standing and kneeling positions

The standing position is the same as Air Rifle, so many people shoot both disciplines. At first you will wonder how you ever hit the target let alone get good scores, but with practice your scores will improve.

Kneeling is regarded as the most demanding position to shoot and it can be very difficult to master, but once you do scores close to those achieved in the prone position are possible.

Whilst 3 Position is demanding it is incredibly rewarding when everything goes well

You may be thinking "what is going well"

The world record for women is 594 from 600 points and the mens record is 1186 from 1200 points, both scores that few people can match prone.

BUT...... the top shooter in the world will probably be shooting 200 to 300 rounds a week in each position!!
